Smith and Steward Wedding

I got a last minute opportunity to be the 2nd shooter on this beautiful wedding down on Shelter Island.

Balboa Park

I spent about 5 hours wandering around the Zoo and various corners of Balboa Park. I also took 2 passes through the Botanical Building, once with the 70-200mm and once with the Lensbaby, with and without macro. Good times.

Wine Encounter

I did a photo shoot for a local wine bar called the Wine Encounter. The warm, friendly atmosphere of this place was fantastic and it was all I could to try and capture some of that here. The client was shooting for the web site, so I tried to give them some different looks here with some of my favorites to see what would best fit their style.

Fog

We don't get much fog, so when this rolled in I wanted to capture some of it. I love how it gives the view through the trees such depth. These shots were off our balcony and if it rolls in again tonight I'll do some more roaming.

Sea World

We headed out Sea World for a few hours on New Year's Day, and the park wasn't crowded which was nice. Sea World is a great place to spend a few hours, watch a show, enjoy the sea breeze (usually, this was a little cold) and call it a day. I've taken a million pictures of the their various shows so I try and sit in a diffetent spot each time, but their flowers are usually beautiful year-round. I really like how a few of these turned out.

Christmas Day

A few shots from Christmas with family.

Photowalk to Duck Pond

There is a duck pond near my work - actually closer to my home, but both are just up the street - so at work I went out with a friend to shoot some ducks. Ok, that came out wrong. But these ducks are cool - they heard us coming before we even got to the pond and the entire pond of ducks swarmed once the crackers came out. A fun outing.

Full Moon

Apparently this full moon cycle was the closest that the moon would be to the Earth all year, or so said some Astronomer-types. Well, it looked about the same as it always did to me, but the heavy cloud cover that we had all day created some nice soft, billowy clouds surrounding the moon, so that was something.

Disneyland

In the interest of keeping things fresh on our quarterly (or so) visits to Disneyland, I shot this whole day with my Canon 1.8 50mm II lens that I don't use very often. It's a remarkable lens, and after shooting with it all day (well, except for the parade when I switched to the more-versatile 24-70mm) I will definitely be shooting with it far more often. My experience with it in the Haunted Mansion alone was enough to convince me that it's a remarkable piece of glass - I was able to shoot handheld in almost total darkness and the lens, coupled with an impressive amount of in-camera noise-reduction, made for some great results.

Lake Elsinore Car Show

A quick outing to a car show not too far from here that was put on by some members of our family.
